The BEST Keto Lactation Cookies Recipe

the best Keto Lactation Cookies

Are you looking for a perfect keto lactation cookies recipe while doing keto and breastfeeding? This recipe will become your new favorite lactation treat.

These keto chocolate chip cookies are made with ingredients that can help boost your milk supply like ground flaxseed, brewers yeast and they are still low carb. They don’t contain any oatmeal but you will still get the amazing lactation boost with the healthy fats and other galactagogues.

When I first started keto when I was breastfeeding I couldn’t find any recipes that weren’t loaded with tons of sugar and non-keto flour. So, I went to work on creating these chocolate chip cookies. They were a huge hit with my whole family. (Don’t worry, they won’t lactate 😉)

What keto foods are in the these lactation cookies that will help increase supply?

There are many keto foods that are a galactagogue, aka something that can help boost milk supply. Here are a few I included in this recipe:

  • Flaxseed – flaxseed contains alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) and phytoestrogens that can help with milk supply.  Flaxseed is also nutrient-dense and full of omega 3 which also is so great while breastfeeding.
  • Brewer’s Yeast – Brewer’s yeast is a superfood. It is packed with protein and is full of nutrients like iron, zinc, vitamin B, magnesium, and potassium. I recommend starting small with this one because it has a strong taste!
  • Hemp Seeds –  Hemp seeds are high in many vitamins and minerals, they are especially high in iron and zinc.
  • Coconut Oil  – Coconut oil provides an excellent source of dietary fat and calories which are necessary for the production of breastmilk. ALL healthy fats are great for your milk supply. That’s what’s so amazing about the keto diet while breastfeeding.

Do lactation cookies really work?

Yes, keto lactation cookies and other lactation recipes do really help with supply, if the recipes contain galactagogues. Every mama is different though on what galactagogues work for them.

How Long will it take to for the latation recipes to work?

This varies greatly from mama to mama. Some mamas see an instant increase in supply but others need to wait a couple of days. But, what better way to test it out to see if it work for you than when these yummy cookies above.

What else can i do to boost milk supply?

The best thing you can do is increasing your feedings and pumping amounts. Although adding in milk-increasing foods can help and making sure you are eating enough (1), breast milk production depends so much on supply and demand. The more milk you extract from your breast the more milk your body will produce. You can do this by adding more feeding or by adding in more pumping. Power pumping is a great option as well.

One of the reasons the keto diet is great while breastfeeding is that all the healthy fats and micronutrients can help so much with milk supply as well. (2)

Making sure you are doing keto correctly while breastfeeding is also so important for supply this is something I work with mamas daily inside the Keto Breastfeeding Method.

  1. I love these! Just made my third batch – I have a one month old. I usually have 2 a day – how many do you recommend? Thanks!

    1. Congratulations on your little one 💕 I’m so glad to hear you love them. 2-3 would probably be a good amount. Every mama is different on what works for them and their supply. Also, as long as they fit into your macros. ( If you are tracking and doing keto.)
